Captain Jason M. West Memorial Scholarship Donation

The Captain Jason M. West Memorial Endowed Scholarship was established by Juli A. West in October, 2011.  Both Jason and Juli are Slippery Rock University alumni. Jason West graduated with a BSBA in Human Resources and a minor in Leadership in 2002.  He was an active member of SRU’s Army ROTC program.  Jason spent two tours of duty serving Operation Iraqi Freedom.  On July 24 2006, Jason, 28, was killed in the line of duty when he encountered enemy fire.  Juli, his widow, established this scholarship to honor his memory and to support Jason’s belief in SRU ROTC and a military career.  A 5K run, West Memorial Run, is held annually to raise funds for the scholarship
