Foundation Board of Directors
The Slippery Rock University Board of Directors is a dynamic board. It carefully and thoughtfully makes decisions to accomplish the purpose of the Foundation, which is to support Slippery Rock University in reaching its priority goals. New members are elected by the Board of Directors and serve three-year terms.
The Board of Directors encompasses several committees which include: Executive, Finance, Human Resources, Governance, and Nominations.

Board Officers
Mr. Harry Bertrand, CPA '81

Mr. Bertrand is a retired Principal and Senior Vice Presdient of S.R. Snodgrass, certified public accountants and consultants based in Wexford. He served as a member of the S.R. Snodgrass Board of Directors and directed the audit practice of the Financial Services Group. Mr. Bertrand earned a Bachelor of Science degree in accounting from Slippery Rock University in 1981. He joined the Slippery Rock University Foundation Finance Committee in 2007. Mr. Bertrand has supported a variety of programs through the Slippery Rock University Annual Fund. He is recognized at the Amethyst level of the Lifetime Giving Society. Mr. Bertrand currently serves as Chairperson of the Board of Directors, and the Chairperson of the Executive Committee.
Mr. Mark Palmer ’96

Mr. Mark Palmer, a 1996 SRU graduate with a BS in Business Administration, lives in Oakdale, Pennsylvania. He is a Certified Financial Planner and Chartered Retirement Planning Counselor as well as President of Integrity Financial Advisors, LLC. Mr. Palmer, a former SRU football player, is a member of the Rock Football National Championship Committee. He and his wife, Stephanie, support an annual scholarship, and are recognized at the Aquamarine level of the Lifetime Giving Society. Mr. Palmer currently serves as the Vice Chairperson of the Board of Directors, the Chairperson of the Finance Committee, and is a member of the Investment and Executive Committees.
Ms. Jennifer Walters '89

Ms. Walters is Chief Financial Officer and Treasurer for Trib Total Media, LLC and 535Media, LLC. based in Tarentum, PA. She has served in various capacities since 2003 including Chief Operating Officer – Accounting and Administration, Corporate Controller, Chief Strategic Planning Officer, and Finance Manager. In addition, she is a Trustee of the owner of both companies, the Richard M Scaife 2004 Grantor Trust. Prior to joining Trib Total Media,, she served as Financial Planning Manager for the Philadelphia Inquirer. Ms. Walters previously served on the Board of Trustees of the Pennsylvania Newsmedia Association Foundation. Also, Ms. Walters has served as the College Chapter Director for the Delta Zeta Sorority at Slippery Rock University since 2004 and also serves at the National level on their Collegiate Finance Committee. She earned a bachelor of science degree in Finance at Slippery Rock University in 1989. Ms. Walters resides in Butler, Pennsylvania. She currently serves as the Secretary of the Board, and is also on the Investment and Executive Committees.
Board Members
Francis J. Aloi

Mr. Aloi is a Vice President and Portfolio Manager for the Pittsburgh office of Glenmede Trust Company. Prior to this role, he was the Pittsburgh Market Director of Investments for Hawthorn–PNC Family Wealth where his team managed $9 Billion in client assets.
Mr. Aloi was awarded the CFA designation in 2000 and the CMT designation in 2017. Previously he chaired the Financial Literacy Committee of the Pittsburgh CFA Institute. He earned his MBA degree at the University of Pittsburgh in 1996, and a bachelor’s degree in applied mathematics in 1990 from IUP.
He has served on the Board of Plains Presbyterian Church where he has been the Treasurer since 2007, and currently serves on the Board of Beaver-Butler Presbytery. In his spare time, he is a pulpit supply preacher in the various Churches of the Presbytery.
He and his wife, Tiffany, have endowed the Frank and Tiffany Aloi Scholarship at SRU and have included SRU within their estate plan. They have been recognized for their charitable contributions as members of the Ruby level of the Lifetime Giving Society. Mr. Aloi currently serves as the Chairperson of the Investment Committee.

Ms. Elizabeth Berkely, SPHR, CCMC, '70, '72

Ms. Berkely is a certified career management coach and business executive with more than 20 years of human resource management experience with Fortune 500 companies, including PNC Bank, International Paper, and Hoechst Marion Roussel. Betty earned a B.S. degree in English and Education and a M.Ed. degree in English from Slippery Rock University. She also holds a M.A. in the Sociology of Education and Mass Communications from the University of Leicester, Leicester, UK. Ms. Berkely joined the Slippery Rock University Board of Directors in 2003, is a member of the Executive Committee, and chairs the Human Resource Committee. She is a past-president of the SRU Alumni Association and is an Alumnus Award of Achievement recipient. She has supported a variety of programs through the Slippery Rock University Annual Fund, is a member of the Founders' Society, and is recognized at the Aquamarine level of the Lifetime Giving Society.
Kenny Bonus

Kenny Bonus, CPA, is the Principal of Bonus Accounting LLC. He graduated from Clarion University with a bachelor’s degree in Accounting and Management in 2010. Kenny worked in Pittsburgh at a Big Four accounting firm for five and a half years before leaving and founding Bonus Accounting LLC. In 2016, he was named one of the PA Institute of CPA's Young Leaders of the Year. Kenny was elected to serve as Butler City Councilman and is the Director of Streets and Public Improvement. In 2020 Bonus Accounting received the Better Business Bureau Torch Award for Ethics. In 2021 Kenny received the Entrepreneur of the year award from the Butler County Chamber of Commerce. Kenny is actively engaged in various non-profit organizations; he currently sits on various boards of directors. Kenny recently established the Bonus Accounting Endowment Scholarship with the Slippery Rock University Foundation to support students pursuing accounting and finance degrees. Mr. Bonus currently serves on the Finance Committee, and is recognized at the Amethyst level of the Lifetime Giving Society. When he isn't working, Kenny enjoys spending time with his wife, Rosie, and son, Oliver.
Ms. Cheryle Campbell '67

Cheryle (Sherry) Campbell is the former Director of the Pittsburgh Field Office Department of Housing and Urban Development, an agency she served, in Pittsburgh, for nearly 40 years. As Director, she coordinated the operations of an 80-person staff in the fields of community development, single family and multifamily affordable housing, fair housing and equal opportunity, public housing, human resources, media representation, congressional relations and strategic management planning.
Ms. Campbell served as Chair of the Federal Executive Board for two terms and was often recognized for public management excellence within the Federal community. In 2015, SRU recognized her as a Distinguished Alumna and in 2009, she received the Distinguished Alumna award from the University of Pittsburgh Graduate School of Public and International Affairs. She currently serves as the Co-Chair of the Nominations Committee, and is recognized at the Aquamarine level of the Lifetime Giving Society.

Erin Daruszka ’97

Erin (Jackson) Daruszka (she/her/hers) has over 20 years of HR experience. She currently holds the SHRM-SCP and SPHR certifications. Ms. Daruszka is a 1997 graduate of Slippery Rock University with a BA in Communication. She also has a MA in Communication from Northern Illinois University (‘00) and a graduate certificate in Organizational Development & Leadership from Fielding Graduate University (‘20). Ms. Daruszka is currently an HR Consultant with OneDigital (formerly Christine Mathews Consulting) where she serves as Head of People or People Partner for several early-stage biotech and tech start-ups. Ms. Daruszka is a certified personal development coach through both the Co-Active Training Institute (CTI) and the International Coaching Federation (ICF) holding the CPCC and ACC designations and a Certified Team Performance Coach (CTPC) through Team Coaching International (TCI), plus she is certified in several assessment tools (DISC, Predictive Index, Hogan, EIQ-2). She is also an adjunct professor at Golden Gate University in San Francisco teaching in the Masters of HR Management program. Erin currently serves on the Human Resources Committee.
In her spare time (yes, she actually does have some) you can find her studying Spanish, occasionally performing improvised theater, buying books (and sometimes reading them), or watching Jeopardy. She lives in Dublin, CA with her husband and furry family (3 cats and a dog).

Mr. Craig Fraser '86

Craig Fraser currently serves as the CEO and President of Windtree Therapeutics, a publicly traded global biotechnology company, where he also is a member of the Board of Directors. Craig has 31 years of experience as a leader in product development, commercial operations and financing as well as in building successful global biopharmaceutical businesses for both startups and large, established companies. Prior to joining Windtree, Craig held several executive positions, including as Chief Operating Officer and President at Novelion Therapeutics, Vice President of Global Disease Areas at Pfizer, Vice President and Global Business Manager at Wyeth and Vice President of Sales & Marketing and Commercial Operations at Johnson & Johnson / Centocor. Craig is a veteran of both the United States Marine Corps and the United States Army.
Craig received his Bachelor of Science degree in public administration from Slippery Rock University in 1986. During his time as an SRU student, he was awarded the American Legion Leadership Scholarship, was Brother of the Year in his fraternity and was on the Dean’s List for academic excellence. He is a Distinguished Military Graduate. Craig was selected by the University as the recipient of the 2021 SRU Distinguished Alumni award.
In addition to serving on the Slippery Rock University Foundation Board since 2016, Craig has been heavily involved in community leadership roles and volunteer work with several organizations such as Big Brothers Big Sisters, American Corporate Partners (ACP), the Marine Corps Scholarship Foundation and the Knights of Columbus. In addition, he has served as a CEO Mentor to founder and start-up CEOs and as a member of the board of HelpHopeLive, a non-profit organization. Daniel Ginsberg ’87

Mr. Ginsberg is a Principal Partner of eGage Human Capital Consulting based in Mason, Ohio. He provides services to organizations of all sizes to assist with their human capital strategy and operational execution. Mr. Ginsberg was previously a Senior Vice President of Human Resources in fortune 500 organizations. Mr. Ginsberg earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in communication from Slippery Rock University in 1987 and a M.A. in Organizational Behavior from Fairleigh Dickinson University in 1998. Mr. Ginsberg is an adjunct faculty member at Fairleigh Dickinson University since 2000. He is also a member of the American Cancer Society, Real Men Wear Pink since 2018 and recently became an Adult New Reader for Warren County Community Services. He currently serves on the Human Resources Committee.
Mr. Richard Harper, Esq. '70

As legal counsel, Mr. Harper has served the Board of Commissioners of Lawrence County and numerous townships, boroughs, municipal authorities, school districts and zoning hearing boards in private law practice. He has served as counsel to public utilities, business organizations, and numerous non-profit organizations. Mr. Harper has served as general counsel to Westminster College and taught business law at Westminster College. He served in the United States Marine Corps and Reserve Components from 1970 to 1976 when he was honorably discharged. In addition, Mr. Harper has served on the Board of Directors of the American Cancer Society, and the Board of Directors of the Lake Latonka Property Owners Association. He earned the bachelor’s degree in education in 1970 at Slippery Rock University, and the Juris Doctor degree at Dickinson School of Law. Mr. Harper and his wife, Brenda, are long-time supporters of Slippery Rock University, and are recognized at the Peridot level of the Lifetime Giving Society.
Mr. David Knopp ‘98

Mr. Knopp is the President and CEO of Grove City County Market, a full-service supermarket located in Pine Grove Square. He graduated from Slippery Rock University with a bachelor of science degree in sports management. Mr. Knopp is involved with numerous community and service organizations and, most recently, established the Grove City Young Professionals, a network group for aspiring business leaders. Mr. Knopp generously supports many SRU programs including ROCK Athletics and is recognized with his wife, Nicole, and his parents, David and Victoria, at the Ruby level of the Lifetime Giving Society.
Mr. Doug McMullen

Mr. McMullen was formerly the President and CEO of McMullen Travel & Tours until he retired in 2018. Doug is a well-respected professional in the travel industry serving individual and group clients. He is active in a number of professional and community organizations including the Pittsburgh SKAL Club and Mercer Knights of Columbus. Mr. McMullen and his wife, Linda, support numerous programs and activities at Slippery Rock University including the President's Award for Outstanding Service and an Endowment for International Travel Experiences for SRU Students. They are recognized at the Ruby level of the Lifetime Giving Society. Mr. McMullen currently serves on both the Investment and Executive Committees.
Ms. Gail Paserba ’90

Ms. Paserba is CEO and owner of International Quality Consultants, Inc. (IQC), providing quality control, inspection, and training services to a wide variety of international companies from the nuclear, fossil fuel, renewable energy, and transportation industries. In 1995, Gail and her husband started International Quality Consultants, Inc. where Gail served as controller. After Tom’s passing in 2013, Gail became president of IQC, Inc. and continues, now in the position of Chief Executive Officer, to grow the company as an industry leader in the quality services. Gail is a resident of Butler and serves as a trustee for Butler County Community College and a board member for the Butler Health System Foundation. She was honored in October of 2017 as a Slippery Rock University Distinguished Alumni and was also recognized in March of 2018 as having achieved the 2018 Enterprising Women of the Year Awards. Gail is recognized at the Ruby level of the Lifetime Giving Society.
Julie Baez Prebula

Ms. Prebula is the owner and director of The Prebula Family Agency where she mentors life agents across the country interested in building their own independent agencies. More recently, Ms. Prebula has been recognized as the first Latina golf course owner in the country, when she invested in, what was originally known as Armco Country Club, in the fall of 2019. Immediately after the purchase, it was important to her and her family to rename the semi-private, open to the public course, Slippery Rock Golf Club and Events Center and reintroduce the space to the community. In summer of 2021, Ms. Prebula, purchased Slippery Rock’s historic, 12-room bed and breakfast, The Applebutter Inn, to complement to the golf club and events center.
Prior to Ms. Prebula’s entrepreneurial roles in western PA, Julie worked for Fortune 100 companies and international brands like Disney, Capitol Records and La Opinión Newspaper, to start ups and indie labels in the music and tech spheres of Los Angeles where she specialized in growing Latino and multi-cultural audiences nationwide.
Ms. Prebula’s break into the Los Angeles music scene came just after graduating Magna Cum Laude from the University of Texas at Austin with a BS in Advertising and was recruited as the Marketing and Promotions Director of the independent, Latin Jazz music label called Moondos Records. Soon after, Ms. Preubla spearheaded the opportunity with another Latinx partner to buildout a successful salon and day spa inside the historic Wilshire Grand Hotel located in the financial district of downtown Los Angeles. During this time, Ms. Prebula also ran her own public relations firm where she promoted Spanish-language music and bilingual talent in key markets across the country.
At Ms. Prebula’s core is an ever-present longing to create community and inclusion through what brings people together the most: music, sports and food! More recently, Ms. Prebula served on the TEXAS EXES Hispanic Alumni Network as Fundraising Chair. Today, Ms Preubla and her family support an annual scholarship honoring her husband’s grandfather, the late Senator Donald O. Oesterling. Ms. Prebula currently serves on the Nominations Committee.

Mrs. Jan Sargert '63

A retired attorney, Jan Sargert was a partner at the Pittsburgh law firm of Meyer, Unkovic & Scott prior to establishing Sargert Consulting Services, working with high tech businesses in matters ranging from intellectual property to international business transactions. Ms. Sargert also taught English in the Baldwin Whitehall School District. Throughout her career, Ms. Sargert has been committed to improving workplace opportunities for women. She was a founding member and past president of Foreign Executive Women in Tokyo, Japan. In Pittsburgh, she was active in organizations such as NAWBO Pittsburgh and the Executive Women's Council. Ms. Sargert’s efforts have earned her several distinctions including the Pennsylvania Honor Roll of Distinguished Women, Pennsylvania’s Best 50 Women in Business, SRU Outstanding Alumni Award, Leadership Award in the Professions, Women’s Business Advocate of the Year, and Western Pennsylvania Women in Business Advocate of the Year. She currently serves as the Co-Chair of the Nominations Committee. At Slippery Rock University, Ms. Sargert and her husband Larry have established the Larry and Janet Sargert Endowed Scholarship to support students who are the first in their families to attend college. They are recognized at the Topaz level of the Lifetime Giving Society.
Eric Wangler ’88

Mr. Wangler is the North American President and Global Managing Director at Workflow for BigHand Inc, a global software development company specializing in efficiency solutions for law firms. He has over 25 years of experience building highly successful organizations, combining strong organic growth execution, with accretive M&A strategy and delivery. Prior to joining BigHand, Wangler held several leadership positions at Ricoh/IKON including leading their US legal vertical organization.
Wangler earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration at Slippery Rock University in 1988. Previously, he served on the board of the Western Pennsylvania Arthritis Foundation. Wangler helped establish the Paul Kuszaj Memorial Scholarship at Slippery Rock University. He serves on the Human Resources Committee, and he and his wife, Tracy ’88, are recognized at the Amethyst level of the Lifetime Giving Society.

Joy Zeiner ’86

Joy Zeiner is a 1986 SRU graduate with a BS in Accounting and lives in New Mexico. She is a retired CPA having been a Senior Manager for KPMG, KPMG Consulting, and BearingPoint and was the CFO of a regional hospital in Southwestern PA. Most of Joy's career was in the healthcare field, where she assisted hospitals and physician practices with their billing and collection cycle. In her retirement, she has turned her time and hobbies into philanthropy opportunities, working with the United Way of Central New Mexico, tutoring kindergarten children in reading, and providing handmade quilts to local non-profits assisting women in New Mexico exiting incarceration and abusive situations. Joy funds an endowed scholarship at SRU for Accounting Majors, and is a member of the 1889 Society. She also serves on the Finance Committee and is recognized at the Aquamarine level of the Lifetime Giving Society.
