Our History
Slippery Rock University Foundation, Inc. was established in May, 1970, by a group of individuals that wanted to enhance the educational opportunities for students wanting to attend Slippery Rock University. Through the dedicated efforts of its board of directors, volunteers and staff - - - and with the generous contributions of thousands of individuals and organizations, Slippery Rock University Foundation, Inc. has grown in its ability to help stimulate the educational enterprise within Slippery Rock University. The Foundation continues to maintain positive relationships with its University constituencies including students, alumni, faculty, and administrators.
Current Programs And Activities
Slippery Rock University Foundation, Inc. is a 501(c) 3 non-profit foundation independent from Slippery Rock University. Through a comprehensive fundraising program, its staff and volunteers generate private gifts which support the priorities of Slippery Rock University. Alumni, friends of Slippery Rock University, corporations, businesses, foundations, and organizations are asked to support the priority needs of Slippery Rock University through social media, direct mail, phonathons, major gift and gift-planning opportunities.
Slippery Rock University Foundation, Inc. secures annual and capital support for scholarships, student/faculty research, cultural programming, equipment, facilities, and other University priorities. Slippery Rock University Foundation, Inc. manages and administers these funds in a manner prescribed by donors. In addition to seeking and managing private contributions and grants, Slippery Rock University Foundation, Inc. is the developer of Slippery Rock Technology Park, a 39-acre development adjacent to the Slippery Rock University campus.
In 2016, Slippery Rock University Foundation, Inc. established SRUF Student Housing LLC which provides quality on-campus housing for Slippery Rock University students. Annual occupancy rates average 98.5 percent since inception in 2008. The complex houses 2,074 students within 6 individual residence halls totaling 742,836 square feet and offers 7 suite configurations. Each building is designed pursuant to United States Green Building Council Standards. Significant safety features include multiple card-swipe access points, security cameras, and welcome desks at each building entrance staffed 24/7.
