Yoga Teacher Training Program at SRU
The Department of Dance is offering a 200-hour Yoga Teacher Training (YTT) Program for students interested in acquiring in-depth knowledge, skills and training of yoga studies with an emphasis on teaching methods. The program will be registered through Yoga Alliance® as a Yoga Teacher Training School. Yoga Alliance® is a national credentialing organization that supports yoga teachers, schools and teacher training programs,and provides a set of educational standards for yoga schools that specify hours of study in the following educational categories:

- Basic Technique and Training (3 credits)
- Wellness for Dancers (DANC 101 - for dance majors)
- Fundamentals of Yoga (PE 115 - for all SRU students)
- Anatomy and Physiology (3 credits)
- Anatomy and Physiology (BIOL 217 - for all SRU students)
- Dance Kinesiology (DANCE 326 for dance majors)
- Anatomical and Physiological Bases of Physical Activity (PE 360 - for HPE majors)
- Yoga Philosophy, Lifestyle and Ethics for Yoga Teachers (3 credits)
- Asian Philosophy (PHIL 343 - for all SRU students)
- World Religions (PHIL 140 for all SRU students)
