Hurricane Relief

Over the past two weeks we have watched in disbelief as Hurricanes Harvey and Irma have devastated southeastern Texas and now Florida. Some of us have families and friends who were impacted by these storms. Many of us have visited these communities and know their beauty first hand. All of us have been humbled by the havoc these storms brought to people’s daily lives. Most of us have wondered what we can do to help.
There are donations to support hurricane relief efforts. By combining our resources, our campus community will be able to help address the daunting work that lies ahead.
From September 20 to October 12, 2018, individuals can make an online donation at www.srufoundation.org/snahurricane.
Campus organizations can also add to the total by hosting a fundraising event and donating funds raised to the campus-wide relief effort.
Donors will be asked to identify one of the following:
Designated amounts by organization will be sent to these organizations for hurricane relief efforts in North Carolina.
The Student Nonprofit Alliance (SNA) is an on-campus organization comprised of SRU students who are preparing for careers in the nonprofit section. As part of our professional training, we have agreed to assist SGA and to coordinate a campus-wide hurricane relief effort.
The Student Nonprofit Alliance invites you to become part of a caring community that supports those who have lost so much. Between September 12 and 23 we are coordinating a campus-wide fundraising campaign to support both the Texas and Florida relief efforts. By combining our resources, our campus community will be able to help address the daunting work ahead in Texas and Florida. When you donate you will be asked to identify which organization (Catholic Charities, Red Cross or Salvation Army) that you want your contribution to support. Half of all funds raised for each charity will then be sent to that relief organization in the Houston area and the other half to the Florida-based organization.
